Wendy Yano competes at Commonwealth Championships
NB Fencer Wendy Yano competed this past week at the Commonwealth Fencing Championships in Largs, Scotland.
In the individual Sabre event, Wendy started off the day going three and two in pools, placing 19th after the first round. Wendy faced Scotland’s Jessica Corby in the direct elimination, and lost a heart breaker 15-14 to advance to the round of 16. She finished with the highest Canadian result, placing 22nd overall.
Wendy also competed in the Women’s Sabre Team event. Wendy and the Canadians lost their first match to a strong English team 45-23. The Canadian team finished 7th overall.
